I know some of you use Linux for gaming and I’m tryna get some of my games to work on it. Do you guys have issues with sound in WIne? For me, both Diablo2 and Cs1.6 do not have sound, and its slightly frustrating. Any pointers?

If you’re using Jaunty (and you fail if you’re not using Jaunty), get it off pulseaudio and put it on ALSA. Then go to your wine config and make sure it’s using ALSA in the sound tab.

Yea, wine + alsa = good. Plus, pulseaudio is TERRIBLE. Things clash constantly and it breaks all the time. I have NO idea why they worked it into ubuntu. I can’t wait to give jaunty a spin!

i remember pulse working a while back in fedora, but I ain’t had the graphics horsepower to be doing anything since my computer scrambled at WCU. I do remember that alsa was the way to go with wine, though. However, I really doubt the sound technologies were functional the last time i used it, it pretty much emulated a stereo sound adapter and that was it (no 7.1 sound, or EAX, or what have you)
