Me and my roommate suggested a bet last night.
Starting Sunday when we wake up we are going 1 week with no internet at all. No web browsing, no IM, no torrents, no porn, nothing. For the sake of our grades, we allow email checking, and the school’s blackboard site/teachers websites but other than that all other sites are off limit.
The winner gets the next month’s utilities paid for them, and if we both make it then we just get our money back. The utilities average around 60-80 dollars a month so it is a substantial amount.
The problem is that my roommates internet addiction lies in his need to constantly his email on his crackberry, whereas mine is these *edited* forums. Since we are allowing the checking of email for school purposes, I feel that I’m at the disadvantage.
My question is this, If I convince him to disallow checking email on his crackberry should I accept the bet? I mean that is 80 dollars I will not have to pay. I just feel like I’m getting the short end of the stick on this one.
i would say email is email, thou can you check browser history on the crackberry? He also might be getting his internet fix through it, is it just the honer system?
Not going to lie, i totally had to have my roommates steal my internet cable if i had alot of work/projects coming up. I can admit i have no self control when it comes to the addiction of internet. best of luck to ya major
You are at a disadvantage already cuz of the blackberry. You need to take the phone away and only give it to him when he needs to make phone calls so that you will both be forced to use the internet. Btw how do you know he wont leave the room and go to a friends to get a e-mail on? Or that you wont do the same thing?
It’s really the honor system. I trust him to follow the guidelines and fess up if he messes up, as he does with me.
I also talked with him and he said that he will have to check his emails for work/school constantly so he needs the crackberry to do so. I don’t know if I’ll take the bet, It really seems disadvantageous for me.

Set your options so that wcugaming sends you responses to all and everything. That way you can still keep up with community and technically participate because you are accessing it via your email.
And if he calls foul on that, then call foul on his crackberry. Problem solved

I’m trying to figure a way to post via email, but I’m not sure how that will work.
