Someone named asdine was playing in the server with a ping of like 5, he wasnt doing that good as I recall but Ex kept harassing him about where he lived and whether he was at wcu because he said his ping looked sketchy. Asdine must have been catatonic or something because he wasnt responding to anyone. Ex threatened to ban him for a week if he didnt tell him. Are admins supposed to have coercive power to that extent? Would I have to answer an admin on pain of a temp ban whether a bear *edited*s in the woods? I told ex to chill and he said I needed shut the *edited* up and that an admin can do whatever he wants. I then asked him if he believes in the least modicum of free speech or is he partial to nazi germany and he kicks me. I don’t recall admins having this kind of leeway when I was in the club. Things different now?
Nope, definitely sounds like abuse. Sounds like a sauce issue, though, so this is all I have to say on the issue. (Please indicate which server you’re talking about next time!
)sure ill be glad to yes i had asked asdine several times if he was from wcu as his ping stayed at 5 and i was making sure it wasn’t using rate exploits . i asked him several times in open chat if he was at wcu and got no response. and then i asked in admin say and again got no response i asked him a few times in voice chat also seeing as i was on his team . yes i threaten to ban if he didnt respond was i really going to do that ? hell no it was a bluff at witch time brian here started saying he doesn’t have to answer you and i said that is a admin asks you something i asks you to do something then do not argue with the admin witch is why i kicked brian because i wasn’t speaking to him but he decided that another person didn’t have to do what the admin said . And i even told brian that it was against our rules to argue with the admin . I truely hope that the admin and execs that know me know i don’t abuse my admin the cops lie to crooks to get them to come off with the info they want i was basicly doing the same thing trying to get this guy to respond to me at witch he still didnt respond . Now I’m guessing brian made this post to start with after i kicked him for arguing with a admin he came right back and i was waiting on the post to be made so i could respond to it . would i have banned that kid for a week ? no because that is admin abuse and those that know me know i wouldn’t have followed threw with the ban . And to brain if a admin is speaking to another player might want to keep it between them 2 people unless your asked to join in im not trying to sound like a *edited* here but isn’t this the same brian that had a cl spot or admin with wcu at one time ?
If so he should know not to argue with the admin .and seeing as i didn’t ban ether brain or asdine i didn’t really abuse my admin powers yes kicked brian for arguing with a admin. and i kicked asdine to get him to answer me they both came back do i fill remorse for kicking brian no if he wouldn’t have been arguing with the admin that had nothing to do with him it wouldn’t have happened .
yeah i knew about app peeps having a low ping and if brian wouldnt have started that crap it wouldn’t have went any where
Brian informed me about this before posting. Anytime an admin takes action against another admin and I find out it’s going to end up being public so best you both get your sides of the story out before I take action.
The person in question was on the residential network of Duke University.
My biggest problem with this whole situation was why did it matter that he had a low ping? We get people in the server with low pings all the time and as an admin it is not within your right to demand that a player tell you where he lives. It shouldn’t matter. With our rate enforcement settings it’s practically impossible for someone to change rates to artificially look that low and even if they could it would show as a ping of 1 or 2, not 5-10.
I’m putting this issue on hold until I can sort everything out.

It’s easy as hell to spoof the rates to make your ping show up as 5, 10, 1, 0, or negative numbers.
Rate enforcement is running btw.

Again, my biggest concern is that you hassled a player about where he lived, not that you argued with Brian about doing it. If you want to know where someone lives, trace their IP. You have access to the command that tells you that. You don’t get them to tell a server full of people, I wouldn’t do that and I can’t imagine you’d do that either, and threatening a ban won’t change that sort of unwillingness.

had i known that the enforcer was running today this whole garbage would not have even happened . As the last time you and i talked about it liam was at least a month if not more ago so i didn’t know by useing you post as a quiote im not *edited*ing about it but showing if i had knew that the rate enforcer was running and that it is easy to change your ping with the rate and while i had been watching the guy it seemed as tho he was skipping witch brought on the whole asking him where he was located . Because with knowing a persons location you can about know if there rates are right or if there just trying to use rate exploits . a simple answer would have solved this and everyone here knows i wouldnt have banned that guy know matter what i said and the whole me saying i said i was a admin and i could do as i wanted that a line of bs . Im proble the biggest *edited* about the rules i have always enforced the rules of all the wcugaming club servers and have taken more than my share of crap for doing the right thing and enforcing the rules of the servers. And most of the admin use sm_chat to speak to other admin and not just come off like some billy bad *edited* . At The time brian said something and the way it was said not knowing he was a admin i took him and fighting with me and as the server rules state arguing with admins is not allowed and is a kick offense and as i said not knowing that brian was now a admin yes i kicked him from the server . he came back and i told him he was kicked for arguing with a admin and that is was against the server rules . Now had brian let me know that enfact he was a admin i would have told him in sm_chat what i was doing and why i was wanting said info to start witth and this whole DRAMA fest would have not even happened so if you want to come after my admin over something as stupid as this i only have a few things to say and that is go for it after the time i have been with the gaming club and the amount of time i have been a admin for said club and all of its servers . And the other is its been fun but i would have to leave the club because this is just so childish of a reason hell this and the other post are just about some of the most childish fighting i have got to read since back in my daoc day and reading the flame wars of its forum. im done with this subject because its honestly not wirth it to continue fighting about something that could have been adverted several times and ways .
As stated previously, the main concern here is hassling a player to answer a question. You blew the situation out of proportion. Big deal he had a ping that showed 5. Did anyone in the server complain about him skipping around or not being able to hit him? No. I have played with asdine recently, I would say in the past week and a few times before that, and he does not lag or skip all over the place. He just has a good connection to the server as stated previously.
i dont actually have admin powers in game. Do I need to reapply or can they just be cut back on. I had requested em off last year because others were using my account like buddha or jamboree that I thought might *edited* around with em.

Especially after you kicked me, but I admit I was being a bit sarcastic in questioning you dediction to nazi germany in game so I guess that was justified to some extent.
And as previously stated to me he was skipping i cant speak for others so im not going to try to . And in my experience of 10 years of cs/css if a person has a very low ping yet looks skipping or laggy there is a good chance that there rates aren’t right be it by there not being a rate enforcer or it being done on purpose and asking for his location i was trying to Gage it and not knowing that yes the enforcer was now working on the server . And yes amerrill i did blow it out of proportion because i took brians first post as a attack on myself and yes i got defensive about it . As stated previously all this could have been avoided if brian would have let me know that he was a admin and i would have explained why i wanted to know his location. But instead come at me on voice com like he did and there isnt a admin exec or anyone else that has admin powers that if a person just starting raising hell at you wouldn’t have also kicked . And masterp there’s a good amount of stuff we as admin don’t know we have the powers for because unless your a exec cl or upper club peeps we dont know the extent of our powers and myself i dont have the time to go and try each sm_command to find out witch ones i have the power to do . And i don’t care if a person knows what town i live in personally witch is why it is showed to every person that comes to these forums because i allowed it to be showed . The way i look at it is this if a person i play a game with decided they want to come to my house and start trouble they might want to call for there bodies bag before hand because they will need it do i think im a bad *edited* ? no but i will defend my house and fam at all cost so i realy donnt care if people know where i live .
Brian your admin has been reinstated. If you feel it needs to be deactivated again, let me know as there is an admin tier that shows you as an admin on the admin list but doesn’t actually give you admin powers.
Ex, I can understand your actions having not known that rate enforcement was enabled. Considering your record on the server, your admin access was never at risk.
As for knowing your powers, once the new tiers are in place I will post a detailed list of the commands each tier has access to.
Since Duke doesn’t have a dedicated gaming organization, I can’t track this player down to get his side or ask why he was ignoring you. Maybe he was drunk/high/hungover/half-asleep/retarded or one of the many other states college kids are on a Saturday afternoon. Anywho…
