SpectatorGO!
Who do you think is the bad guy and why?
I personally find it odd that Viacom admits that they are still negotiating rate increases with other carriers yet Time Warner is the only one they are pulling the plug on. Considering the fact that TW asked for a similar extension of the current contract until new terms could be negotiated and Viacom said no I am inclined to believe this whole deal is over a provider trying to force a 22-36% rate increase on a carrier when their own ratings and viewship has decreased since the last contract signing.
Viacom stock is down 60% for the year and they have been making large strides in shifting towards online reruns that earn them revenue like Hulu. Since their TV ad revenue has taken a big hit the last few years I think it’s wrong to make up for that in carrier fees.
Btw, I hate Time Warner so don’t go thinking I’m a fanboy.

SpectatorBtw, it’s 1AM EST and I’m still watching Star Trek on Spike.
I bet Dora won’t be crying tomorrow either. Viacom doesn’t have the balls to cut the 2nd largest carrier in the US and TWC can’t afford forcing people to switch carriers over this battle. Neither can afford to draw this out as both companies are being sold in the next year and legal expenses will drag down company value.

SpectatorMeh. I don’t really watch much TV, so this dosen’t bother me. As long as I have Fox News, I’ll be fine. It would be nice to still have Adult Swim though.
