Spectatorokay im not sure how mad admins will be at me for doing this, but i feel really adamant about getting this resolved. i dont really care how this is done, as long as i get a chance to put my voice in. bunny hopping is just something fun in the game that i like to do when im waiting for the ts to plant the bomb or im just being ridiculous. come to think of it, ive never actually used it in a useful combat situation (unless you count bunny hopping over dd in d2 or bhopping to red rock). i imagine that actually doing it well enough is something only experienced jump map players can do, which no one in this server actually is. think about it, how often do you see someone bunny hopping in this server in sticky situations?
sorry for remaking this thread again, and if you want to close this again, that’s fine; but can i please have someone like liam or master p discuss this with me privately? message me for my AIM

SpectatorHonestly, MasterP said all the reasons why we do not allow it on the server. Personally I enjoy “attempting” to bunny hop, especially on kz maps (my other love) but when being used in combative situations it can really become a pain in the *edited* to all. You have to remember, we cater to not only skilled players, but noobies who just bought the game and by not allowing it we help eliminate some of that gap.
One other point i would mention is that you are correct, allowing it when just messing around, or doing the red rock jump (its easier to strafe btw) its fine, but if we allowed bhoping then, and not in other situations, it becomes really hard to define a solid border between them. In the end, it is just easier for us to prohibit all bhoping and be able to point to a solid rule, than lets say “oh i was bhoping out of spawn and a CT just happened to be there” and have the admin need to decide if that is “acceptable bhoping” or not.
PS. what server do u kz in…. im usually in GS or Phoogi’s

SpectatorIt gives an unfair advantage because not everyone can do it. Me included =(
LEGIT reasons for why it’s banned:
-Not everyone can do it
-It is stealthier than running, yet makes you faster than running, making it again unfair
-In maps like Dust2 where you can get some speed, makes it hard to shoot the hoppers
-I can’t do it
-It could potentially give you Arthritis in Real Life.

SpectatorI’m glad the thread got locked. I kept pausing MGS3 to argue with drugla. But seriously, it really shouldn’t be allowed. Things like quick scoping and no scoping are just another way to use a weapon, bunny hopping makes you move a lot faster than you normally would and just really shouldn’t be allowed.

Spectatorallowing it in the 1.6 server does not make it allowed in others..we are talking about bunnyhopping and NOT crouchrunning..right? crouchrunning makes no noise and runs faster than running and messes with accuracy..like..the hitboxes get confused when shooting at a crouchrunner..I have seen tons of people do both, but really only crouchrunning is a problem..good players use it too make themselves unstoppable..they use it at all times including intense gunfights..bunnyhopping makes noise but goes faster than running until you stop and then if you were just running, you would be caught up to the bunnyhopper when they stop..ges taht kinda makes cents…Loot. (lets just go by CAL standards..as long as someone can do it without a script..then it should be all go in regards to bHOPPING to me…_)
December 15, 2008 at 1:38 pm #66619MasterP
SpectatorAllowing it in CS1.6 would make it much harder to keep it out of Source. That exact argument has been made before.
The problem with CAL’s stance is that it is a typical CAL stance. They would rather allow something they know is controversial and tack on “so long as they aren’t cheating to do it” than flat out ban something. The problem is you can’t tell the difference between someone who’s legitimately good at it and a scripter, and of course the script kiddie is going to say he’s doing it without cheating. That leaves the admin in a precarious position, having to second guess himself on whether or not to kick someone, knowing full well he’s probably cheating.

SpectatorI don;t think the fact that not everyone can do it is legit reason, thats like saying strafing on scoutz isn’t legit!

Spectatorsimply the game was not designed to allow Bhopping this is why its not allowed.
valve is just not waisting any more time/money to fix the issue. in 1.5 you could bunny hop like a wing’d goomba, 1.6 they tryed to fix the issue for the most part and make it elevendy times harder to bhop,, but now everyone goes to google and download bhopping scrip. and its impossable to tell if someone is cheating(scripting) or doing it legitly so to make if fair for everyone we dont allow it.. again the game was not designed to allow Bhopping this is why its not allowed.
same with crouch running
On a side note, if your *edited*ing around in like spwn bhopping circles or crouching running around like confused parrydog i highly dobut your going to get yelled at… its kinda like in soccer, hand balls are not allowed,, but if it does not play an unfair advantage/possession theirs not foul called. get’it,got’it,g00d!!!

Spectatorokay, so on a few points
-i usually strafe red rock (both red rocks actually) but bhopping and double jumping is much more of a challenge
-the new update actually does NOT make you go faster, they changed this fairly recently actually. this is a little known fact like the how the usp and glock run just as fast as a knife (well maybe thats a little more known but whatever)
-i play on kz monkeys usually, but im up for anything. add my steam account major and we can play some :] its jwatt88

January 29, 2009 at 11:19 am #69656lootool
Spectatorit dont know in logs if they use script or not..I mean if someone can do it for 5 minutes without stopping you know something is fishy..I still dont see why allowing in 1.6 would make it easier to allow in Source.. arent they diff games? dont sauce playurz h8 1.seis? diff council leaders for each..so they have ultimate rule…LOOT.

That argument has been used for other things before.

SpectatorI’m wondering if the people who work at Valve actually play any of the steam games. They seriously need to make some modifications and get rid of the ability to crouch run in a steam update.
