This is the first trailer for Bioshock 2, showcased after beating the PS3 version, for those of you who played the PS3 version, please ignore this. I apologize for this being off screen…

Caution: What follows is fa speculation. If you are averse to fan speculation, please don’t read.

    [fan speculation]

A long time ago, I started wondering how a sequel could work. I came up with the an idea: the bad ending of Bioshock is canon.

The protagonist of the first game takes over Rapture and kills all the little sisters

for their adam. One escapes, then later returns to Rapture as a young woman seeking revenge for her mudered sisters.

What do we see in trailer? An older-than-usual little sister standing on a beach. She probably has telekinesis, because she made those buildings appear. I am curious as to how close my idea is to the finished product. Guess I’ll find out in a little over a year.

    [/fan speculation]

After I saw this, I started playing Bioshock again on a harder difficulty. It’s still awesome. I sent the trailer to a friend of mine a few nights ago. He was excited to say the least.

That actually makes a decent plot Ephraim. Except I hated the bad ending in Bioshock. It seems to be lacking compared to the good ending and I never liked the idea of the main character being that much of a douche (but that’s because I injected most of my own morals into the character making me emotionally invested in his well-being).

Plus, you’d have to remember that with the bad ending the Splicers are free from Rapture and on that sub, which means they probably have access to the mainland.

Also, they’d have to open up the rest of Rapture if we returned to it because it wouldnt be nearly as interesting trudging through the same places again. And there’s the fact that the city was already falling apart and the fact that you beat the hell out of the main power generator wouldnt help. That place was pretty much collapsing in on itself by the end of the game.

And there’d be almost not Big Daddies since you killed them all.

Actually…on second though let’s not go back to Rapture. It’d be a silly place.

(Fan Speculation about this game excites me. More! There must be more!)

Although I was thinking about it a lot and was wondering if he’d be able to start rebuilding Rapture. He’d need help, which would explain why more people would be in Rapture, and since the facilities to create Big Daddies exists that would make reason for them to be stomping around still. And perhaps he missed a few the first time in the depths of Rapture that have since gone into disrepair, still lurking in the darkness in search of their lost Little Sister, ready to lash out at any threat that looms in the deep…

And maybe the reason for the Little Sister going back to Rapture was she got pulled into it by people wanting to go back and stop it (People angry after the Splicers got cut loose? People afraid of the power of Rapture? Or greedy for it?) and then decides to take him down for vengeance or perhaps after the party she is with is wiped out.

Grrrr. See what happens, my mind goes crazy thinking of these things and now I want more Bioshock NOW!

Hmm… I thought the bad ending was more satisfying than the good ending. Yes, the good ending was warm and fuzzy, but the bad ending had nukes and really got me thinking about a potential sequel. Or maybe I’m just weird.

Perhapse, after taking control of Rapture, the protag (Jack) was able to get the city running efficiently and turned it into a fortress nation. Maybe he’s like an underwater Franklin Roosevelt.

I hope the premise of the first game has a Little Sister returning to Rapture out of vengence. Heh. Maybe they’ll call her Big Sister. I like the idea that the objective of the second game is to kill the protagonist of the first game.

Wouldn’t this be better in Gaming News seeing as how it isn’t a playable piece of software yet :).
