SpectatorThe High Ping Kicker has been re-written and reinstated. Max Ping is 150. Please let me know if you have any trouble. It’ll tell you what it saw your ping as on the kick message.

Not more than 5minutes ago it kept kicking one of my Clanmates out of the server for a supposedly “203ms” whereas his ping never went above 100.

The first wasn’t in and the second was screwed up royally.
Thanks for the info, I’ll look into the HPK and see what its issue is.
Keep in mind that the HPK does take their cmdrate into affect. So if the cmdrate is not correct, well, it may boot them for lagginess even if they aren’t “lagging” on the scoreboard.

Spectatornet_graph is a MUCH more accurate representation of ping than the score tab.

Spectatoryah liam now there is less work for admins. Btw how hard would it b to upgrade the server to a 66 tick server instead of 100.
July 7, 2008 at 7:18 pm #50604Bitey
SpectatorYou mean downgrade to 66?

SpectatorIs there any way to delay the ping kicker so that the player has the average ping above 150. Everytime my ping went above 200 for 2 seconds by either alt-tabbing out or using Steam Community, it jumped my ping and therefore was kicked.

Spectatorjust to put in my two cents, i was playing a few minutes ago and i was kicked for having a high ping (168) but i definitely wasn’t lagging, although i will say that i hadn’t checked my ping for awhile

SpectatorKuros is right, the ping that is shown in the scores section is not a very accurate representation of your ping, you need all the marbles and that is found in net_graph. I find net_graph 3 to be the best location for me but some of you might prefer a different location, net_graph 0 turns it off.

SpectatorThe ping in the scoreboard is the ping the server SHOULD have for that player. There is no reason why the scoreboard would show a ping more than 5-10 different than the player gets, if it does you’ve got something set up wrong. The plugin doesnt check the real causes of lag as I had to kick a 60ms ping yesterday for extreme lag.

Spectatori always have net_graph 3 on from past leagues that require it in screenshots, but mine is always 60ms, average meaning 40 ping in scores. Just the 2 seconds it goes above 150, it seems like a kick and it isnt the average ping. Just as i mentioned opening Steam Community and loading a page on it will lag you for a hot second, and alt-tabbing out for another hot second to check something or if a pop up had happened. Is there any way to delay it so it would be averaged out like it used to be.
I know its work in progress so im not freaking out about it. Just giving an idea that before it was great. I know liam has a life like everyone else so i thank him and the wcu board for keeping it playable.

I’ve made some significant changes to the HPK plugin. It was polling every 5 seconds, and I changed this to every 15. I also made the code a little more efficient in the hopes of correcting a few of these issues. I think the big issue was that the timer wasn’t stopping on map change and so it was running multiple copies of it as the maps went forward. This could cause an almost instantaneous kick if you alt-tabbed out a lot and your ping spiked.
MasterP, if you want, I can put in checks to get their choke/loss, cl_cmdrate, cl_updaterate, rate, interp, etc. Let me know how you want this fleshed out and we can do it.

SpectatorI say put the ping booter at 200. a lot of good people play from south america, or latin america and aren’t laggy. :'(

Please start implementing the checks you talked about. I’m not quite sure what I want the limits to be yet but you can go ahead and start coding the foundation in the mean time.
I’ll throw up a vote about increasing the ping but there will be other strings attached and it will be very closely monitored.

How do you want it restricted? Max Choke? cmdrate? interp? Etc? What are the mins/maxes allowed?
There is a huge exploit out now with cmdrate that I’m not posting on here.

I want to think about this before making a decision. I should know by tomorrow or Thursday.
In the meantime, please code an admin plugin command that I can use to manually check people’s rates. I’d like something as close to ma_rates as you can give me.

How about…sm_rates 😛
Want it to display all or individual or both?

I meant in functionality. <_>
Have it display for all for “sm_rates” and for an individual for “sm_rates
