32-bit OSes will READ all 4GB but it won’t be able to use it. The amount of physical ram your Vista can use will be:

 

4GB – (Video memory) = Max amount RAM useable

4GB – Video Ram – Sound Ram – BIOS Ram – L2 Cache, actually.
