SpectatorSo, I’ve noticed a LOT lately when I’m in the server that a mapvote will come up with 3:00 left to go on a map (our setting, memorize it people.) and the vote will go on, and then EVERYONE will start spamming “rtv” or “rockthevote” or “re-vote please” or “not that map!” or “change it” or “that vote sucked” or “I’m not playing that map” or… you get the point. So either you guys suck at voting or you suck at voting.

Now, when the Liam mod hits the server, there WILL be a countdown timer if we have a vote, so people know when it’s coming and don’t try to change weapons or use a radio command or whatever and misvote. Hopefully that will change things but…
You guys seem to just hit random buttons or not know what you’re voting for or something, because that comes up really often, then I get told off by admins and players alike that if we don’t re-vote the server’s going to dry up. Granted, that is almost always true. That being said, I’d rather you guys get it right, or be subject to a random map selection and tell us if a map sucks that bad so we can pull it.
Before I just go off on a limb and make this a new server policy of my own liking (random selection), I’m wanting a poll of YOU, the people that play in the server. Well, hopefully the people that play read the forums. You have until midnight Friday to make your minds up. It won’t be effective immediately (i’ll be sleeping and getting ready for AppLan) but when I get back I’ll look and make some changes. So vote, and tell everyone you know that plays sauce, and those that you don’t know, to vote.

Spectatormap voting is fine… its just that some maps make people leave. i.e. westwood and assault.
i think a better idea would be to force auto-assign, or to just remove a lot of maps.
we took port off a while ago because its not an even map and people get frustrated. i wish you could edit the in game world and put a barrier in between those two red crates on the terrorist side. that would solve so many things.

Spectatori just always vote for piranesi whenever it shows up, honestly i think every other map should be either piranesi, dust2 or inferno

SpectatorI like the halo style vote, but the random vote should not be “completely” random, maybe random between d2, office, inferno, and nesi…specifically to keep the server full and/or to populate the server.

SpectatorI think the main problem is that we sometimes have voting with three or four favorites. For example, say we have office, dust2, inferno, and assault all up at the same time. nine non *edited* people vote for the first three, but that splits the vote three ways so each map has three, then four die hard people vote for assault and assault is the map even though most of the server didn’t want it. i have seen this happen too many times.
my solution is to have two tiers of map voting. throw up a random vote with 6 or 7 options as usual, then if no one option received over 50% of the votes, do a second vote with only the top 2 or 3 choices of the first vote shown. that way any map that gets chosen at least 50% of the server population wants. thus, less people will drop out because they will want to play certain maps and then three or four crazy people can’t kill the server in 5 minutes.
let me know what you think

This would be difficult with the way that the voting module is written. It’s fixable, but it would be very hard.

Spectatorso #16, you talking about something like a Democrat / Republican map vote, without the party differences? lol. In history class I learned all about that and how someone got ticked that they lost an election because their two candidates split the vote.

SpectatorIts a neat idea but not sure if it would even effect the next map that is played on 90% of the time.

SpectatorHalo Voting would be sweet, but if not that then definitely have a 5 second countdown to the vote. If not then at least have some command where if enough players type -crappymap or something, it will go to a random map.

SpectatorI concur with what 16 said, and liam, I have complete faith in your coding abilities to make this happen

SpectatorI waited, and I was pleasantly surprised by the rotation. Rotation stays.
