For those of you interested in participating in Relay for Life, the WCU Gaming Club is joining the Fighting Octopi. The Fighting Octopi mainly consists of individual participants as well as the C.H.I.L.D. organization. All participating groups and individuals will receive full credit for all their work and donations. This would also make a great opportunity for the club to promote itself in addition to helping out a great cause.

So far, the Octopi has raised $170.60 of its $1000 goal.

The Relay for Life events takes place on the night of April 11th and continues on to the early morning of April 12th.

Current fund-raising activities include making Breast cancer awareness ribbon keychains and selling the Relay for Life “Hope” bracelets.

    Luminaria bags are also available.

    To register, go to http://www.events.cancer.org/rflwcu

    Click – Join Team

    Search for “Fighting Octopi”.

Then fill out the registration information.

Kerri Galloway is the Team Captain and you can reach her at kerrigalloway AT yahoo.com

I’m also available for contact regarding Relay for Life. You can reach me at mmoore.me AT gmail.com

So if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please contact either of us.

I will be bringing the Feet and Suns for $1 donations at the LAN.

If you need materials, such as feet and/or suns or any other materials, contact Kerri or me.

I do realize that Relay for Life occurs the night before our spring LAN. This presents a great opportunity to bring new people to the LAN. We can set up a computer at the booth for sign-ups for the LAN event and draw people in that way. If people are worried about getting sleep the night before, it will not be an issue if we can get enough people to participate during the event and schedule shifts so people can participate, as well as get plenty of rest before organizing and running a hectic LAN event.

Other ideas – If we do get a table at the UC prior to the LAN event, this would also provide a good opportunity to sell the $1 donation feet/suns or whatever else we have to offer.

The ACS/RFL site does have an automated e-mail generator and contact importer so you can easily generate e-mails to send to family and friends to raise money.

Also, we’d like to tie in some sort of aquatic/movie theme to the booth if possible, yet I’d still like for the WCU Gaming Club’s portion to be related to gaming as well.
