A team of all soldiers and medics on any capture the point map = win

or that’s what i think i’d love to give it proper field test but i’m thinking so cause i’ve seen it once on dustbowl earlier and faced a part of it on granary today…

I agree and disagree, the medic/soldier combo is effective, but with the proper amounts of medic/heavy and snipers, the soldiers can be contained. Especially if the snipers are good and the medics uber at the correct time. Just my thoughts…

At the same time a brilliant Soldier and a brilliant medic are pretty much unstoppable. I’ve seen Medic/Soldier combos run maps, especially if the team defending against it isnt tip top.

A decent turret defense though seems to stop them, because even ubered they get bounced around too much by the explosions and the rounds to do enough damage.

aha! but a smart medic ubers then runs in first so it the turret bounces him around… and the soldier can aim nicely and rape… but that’s only a lil tip that’ll make you look pro ;_)

a couple skill demos can take out any medic/soldier combo before they get close to the middle of the base ^^. If im on defense I prefer to have 2 demos forcing medics to use their uber early, thus protected the sentries within. There are many good ways to do this :D. (This is only for CTF maps – for the most part). Although demos are still pretty good at taking down a medic, even if it costs the demo his life.

yeah demos are a pain sometimes…which is why that you need solidarity on your team and have all soldiers and medics… like 5 soliders and medics… they’d roll a demoman…and god forbid they chuck out a crit rocket…

the main problem with soldier/medic (imo) is the speed. The soldiers are just too slow and medic/soldier can be taken out rather easily by a scout/pyro or something like that. Honestly once the soldier loses his medic he is SOL unless playing a team of nubs.

i dunno, soldiers last longer than most other offensive classes, or that’s at my experience, cause heavies just draw so much attention when they pop up. Also rocket jumping can add some speed if you point that bad boy 45 degrees or so a fire a few off.

Personally I think rocket jumping is most of the time a waste. I mean giving up health to move a bit faster or jump a bit higher. Unless it is necessary I avoid rocket jumping with a passion.

If you do it in the right area and know how to do it then you can put yourself in a good position to ambush the other team and/or a good position to have an extreme advantage over the other team.

I guess that is true Bitey I must not be that good at it then haha. Cause I just end up almost killing myself when I rocket jump.

i agree pete…i suck with it and i don’t use it cuz i go NOWHERE but renton would basically rape us all with his UB3R strats lol i’ve played with him before against decent/good people and he rolls them…idk how he does it.

if only that skill could apply to css…lawl

Kuros does it to, I watched him play tf2 and his rocket jumps blast him up really high and he takes very little damage. Also Kappamerc, that little douche…. Does it and he has the amazing ability to not freaking die.

On 2fort it can help avoid sentries or deliver the flag quicker. I love rocket jumping :)!

Typical RJ does about 30 damage. It’s well worth it to take a 30 damage hit to avoid 4 defenders that you later come up behind and shovel. Now pipe bomb jumping is a different story.

soo soldiers and demomen are gonna get nerfed

    : (

demomen needed it…but i dunno about the soldier, maybe i should play more tf2…though i love being a heavy…

    Agreed.

Also, pipe bomb jumping isn’t that hard but it takes away so much HP it’s not really worth it. Demoman wasn’t really unbalanced, the problem is that when someone who’s good with the class gets the right position and backup he can really tear a defense apart.

The way the new balance system is, if you fight to a standstill neither team will be able to break through and win. I was playing on a Jiggly server on Canyon and had to play the map for 30 minutes after the time ran out because that’s how long it took for my team to push through and cap the last point.

thats just b/c the ppl there are 2 types of ppl that play on jiggly’s: awful noobs and ridiculous ppl that play 24/7. Teams with mixes of both get stuck in standstills all the time.

For 30 minutes? The guy had 200 kills with soldier…
