Ephraim
SpectatorHey there. I’m Ephraim Freed. You may not have seen me around the forums, but I am the club’s Historian and will be taking pictures at the LAN Event. I have never been to a LAN before and would appreciate some suggestions. If you could answer some questions, that would be great.
When should I arrive?
Just how many pictures should I take?
Should I focus more on the PC or Console Tournies?
If I am taking pics, does that mean I can’t play games?
Anything else I should know?
Thanks!

Just how many pictures should I take? take bunches,, but its your job to go through them all and pick the top say 50ish of the set.
Should I focus more on the PC or Console Tournies? same
If I am taking pics, does that mean I can’t play games? yes you can play, but when your not playing you need ot have the cam snappin

SpectatorI’ll tell you what to do…
Dice is right, you have to take alot of pictures. I remimber back when we only had 32-man lans, I still took over 100 pics per lan. But It is your job to take pictures of the group, to take pictures of the prizes and the winners of the prizes. And you can’t play as much, because it is your job to capture the LAN on film, which you can’t do if your playing the whole night. I like to take pictures of everyone that is there and their machines, because most are very proud of the work they have put into them. Also, Take pictures of the tourneys especially between the top two in each Tourny because you can really see the tension and the excitment. Also take group pictures, it is good to get alot of overhead shots so you can see how vast the LAN really is. Just some ideas as well.

SpectatorEphraim – you ever post xytmnd/lti?
September 18, 2007 at 1:14 pm #27035Ephraim
SpectatorI honestly have no idea what xytmnd/lti means. I assume it involves YTMND, where I do have a few sites. The only games I plan on playing are Smash Bros and Wii Bowling so there will be plenty of time for photography. Will flash be an issue? I assume most players would resent a bright flash of light in their faces while they are trying to concentrate.

SpectatorEh.. doesn’t bother me really. Just as long as you’re not two inches from my face. Also, feel free to take pics of people hanging out and forming a community too. A lot of the pictures I liked of me were me and my friends just standing around and hanging out for a little down time.

Spectatordon’t worry about flash till someone tells you not to use it, then just don’t use it around them. As for getting pictures, if you have a digital camera, walk around a couple of times and get everything even remotely interesting, then dump them on someone’s computer. I’ll volunteer mine, I probably won’t be making it past the second round anywhere
