As you all know September 25th is launch date. Whos all getting the game?

Is anyone having smaller get togethers or know people that are. I was thinking one of the dorms RA’s might have a small release parties..

I’ll be running around hooking people up with some NRG.

PS: this is directed to people that attend WCU

    you know i’m getting it

If anyone is interested, the gamestop in Sandhills village in columbia is having a midnight sale. My Nestle Tollhouse cookie store right next door is also going to be open for people wishing to get some late night snacking food and drink for reduced prices. So if anyone’s in the area and was going to pick it up anyway, stop on by. I’m trying to get a deal of a bottled soda, full throttle energy drink, and a half dozen cookies for 9 or 10 bucks.

Probably 10 bucks even, not sure yet. And it might include ice cream or something too, I’m not sure yet. Post on here if you’ll be there and have any suggestions.

I’m definitely considering getting it. If these guys think I can net $1,500 for my rig somewhere, it’s as good as done 🙂

yes, I am definately getting halo 3. I will be at the Gaston mall monday night from approx imately 9pm till whenever I get my legendary, then a 2.5hr drive back to WCU. and let the haloing commence… I have a roomy who has tuesday classes. So if anybody is willing to stay up all night and play through with me… I’d be more than happy to. I’m hoping to be back on campus by 3:30am tuesday morning. I will most likely be playing till late tuesday night also.

Well, now that I’ve won a copy, I won’t have to wait til this weekend to play. So I’ll be on early Tuesday. I only have 2 classes, at 11 and 5, so whenever I’m not there, I’ll be on.

getting it for my birthday next week+gold account from my friend.

I swear that friend of yours hooks you up. Share the wealth and love!

On another note: My roommate has beaten it in a day. Quite honestly it looked pretty bad, it was just rinse and repeat gimmicks and story you’ve done from the first two games but with new weapons you could use and different “styles”. The multiplayer has even diminished from before. The new gametype (ZOMBIES FTW) is fun and some of the new things you can do in the game as well as in multiplayer (gravity hammer + rocket = BASEBALL) are freaking sweet but there are only a handful of maps that are actually fun to play with when there are 3-4 people only playing locally on the Xbox.

Also, what’s with allowing 4 people to play Co-op on XBL but not allowing 4 people to play Co-op on the same Xbox?

It’s probably an issue wih the split screen as far as the co-op goes. And same old gimmicks? The features they have added are awesome and just awestriking in a few cases.

Campaign scoring – A good reason to play campaign more than once. Makes it a challenge, (going for speed, turning on skull effects, medal kills etc) to achieve the highest score.

Gametypes – The ability to change about any and all settings of a particular gametype from the lobby. No having to go back out and make a new gametype.

Appearance – Ability to customize your armor and emblem. Not just three difference colors each and addition of new emblems, but by completing certain achievements or playing through campaign, you unlock new pieces of armor.

The Forge – Nice for editting a map to cater to a certain gametype. Plus fun to goof around in.

Theater – Now this is by far the most amazing thing by far. You can go back through the last 20 games you played and watch them. Sounds kinda lame at first. But the game actually re-renders the entire game. You can switch between players, moving the camera around them, or do a free fly-by in a spectator cam. Just so you can see how bad you really owned those guys. Or see strategy flaws and etc. In addition to that, you can take screenshots and upload them to your slot in Bungie as well as save the film yourself.. and then go download it onto your computer for video editting later.

And honeslty, as far as multiplayer goes, all the maps are fun. You just have to play with more people. Just because you only have 4 people to play with doesn’t mean the maps are bad. Go find more people to play with. My favorite maps now are Epitaph, Construct, and Guardian. And all the weapons are balanced and have a realistic feel (recoil and such).

This game is far better than Halo 2, reminiscent of Halo 1, and just shows what’s capable on the 360 alongside the support from the developers. Bungie provides a lot of services for their community on this one, you have to give them props for that.

As I said, the new gametypes are actually pretty cool and I am really enjoying things such as campaign scoring, etc, but that wasn’t what I was complaining about with Halo 3. The campaign is a bunch of the same gimmicks and things you have been doing for the past two games. Go to a tower, blow up its core, gtfo. Go to a ship, blow up its core, gtfo. Go to the core of the ring, blow up the core, gtfo. Kill a Prophet here and there, fight some flood, and then you’re done finished with a ride in the Warthog that is of epic proportions.

The new features and gametypes are really fun and really cool to mess with, but that doesn’t fix the weak story and rinse and repeat gimmicks that are used throughout the campaign, not to mention my suitemate pointing out to me that in almost every cutscene they use concept art as the background, heh.

And also, I know that the maps in multiplayer are fun, just they aren’t catered for the quick games against 3 others on your local Xbox, they’re catered more towards those that hop on Live. Playing locally on the Xbox alone, the maps seem few and far between for a good small one.

My suitemates and I all combined pretty much on Saturday to beat Halo 3 on Legendary, but one of them (*cough* Caco *cough*) pressed the A button at the “Thanks” message, which caused us to miss the extra part of the ending cutscene :(.

It’s not my fault they put up a two sentence thank you message for about five minutes. I figured you needed to skip it to get to the credits!

And I actually wish they did let you fight the Prophet. I liked punching them in the face in 2.

Honestly, it wasn’t the campaign that got Halo popular. So, I don’t mind the weak storyline, since I never bought it for the story.
