i understand that it wasn’t up for discussion in game. but i was wondering if it was okay to discuss it in the forums. Is it possible to be able to bunny hop if its not to gain an advantage? Brian i understood your PM about map size and such but most of the time i am just trying to have a good time. Most of all its a habbit. Also it is a good way to dodge people.

Yes, it can be discussed all you want man. I’ll make a compromise, you can do it all you want after the round ends, not during game time, you can do it on cs_deagle5 and awp_subzero and the scoutzknivez maps. How’s that sound to you, same deal with music, you can do whatever you want to celebrate and *edited* after the win barring the obvious, that’s not a free license bracket.
If people keep abusing this, I’m turning off airaccel and that’s going to be really lame for everyone else.
If you put sv_airaccelerate to 10 (default) people can normal jump (like boxes, ladders, etc) and you have to be very good to actually bhop.
With sv_airaccelerate at 100 it’s crazy easy to get crazy fast.
they have scrips that do all the timing for you, you just hold down teh space bar and look left/right… however its hard to proove if they are using a script or not… 90% of them are scripters as its VERY vErY hard to do…. AKA thats why the scrips were created
TAG had problems with airstrafing (AKA bunnyhopping) on their low gravity servers. There is still no official decision on it and is generally left up to admins because most people use scripts (as you said) to do the timing for them. This came after a 20+ page forum thread arguing about how to actually do it, none of them could tell me straight up how to do it consistently even with airaccel set on high levels. All I was told was “go play surf and scouts/knives and you’ll get really good at it fast”. Having specd people for hours on end, I can say for certain that not many can do that without using scripts. We went so far as setting airaccel to virtually zero and still had them doing it.
My view is, and has always been, I catch you doing it in on a normal map (during the round) and I’ll slay you. It DOES give an extremely unfair advantage because it makes it much harder to hit you and next to impossible to headshot you.
i dont use scripts, but if you don’t want us to bhop then turn sv_accelerate off… and i dont care about playing music..
The server wasn’t set up you so that you could exploit it. I don’t have to change any server cvars. They won’t get changed unless it’s something that can’t be managed. Bunny hopping is one of those things that are easy to manage. If we ask you to stop and you don’t, the punishments ensue. You have formerly been asked to stop, I suggest you do so.
Is this something that will effect the normal people who can’t hop at all well, obviously arn’t scripting anything, and manage to get 2 hops in a row down a slope on occasion – more luck, than trying?
No it won’t pink. If you are going down a slope I don’t care if you get hop off or whatever, otherwise if you aren’t on SK, Deage, AWP, dont use it. I don’t care if people use it to bunny hop down the slope in awp, they are risking there own life there to the fall and the bullets.
I even jump around like a retard. I just don’t exploit the server variables to fly around at super speed.

When you watch someone do doing it, it’s painfully obvious that they are doing so enforcement should be extremely simple.
