As the new console council leader, I want to hear your ideas as well as other comments and suggestions regarding other ideas. And also if you have a general question about the club, LANs, and other events in the works, post them here. So far, my current ideas….
Console Party Nights: A couple people host a mini-LAN in their room, giving ample notice and outlining what games will be there, what equipment will be needed, where it is, and other various bits of info.
Tournaments: As for now, we will be having a Guitar Hero II (Xbox 360 and PS2)*, Wii Bowling, Super Smash Brother Melee (Gamecube), Halo 2 (Xbox/Xbox 360)*, and Gears of War (Xbox 360)*. Exact settings and tournament format will be determined at a later time and posted in separate threads. (Open to suggestions as well).
*-Dependent on equipment available.
Free Play at Tournaments – Designated areas for the Wii, DDR, and Guitar Hero will be created. As demand for specific game(s) becomes evident, designated space will attempted to be made.
Mini-Tournaments and “League” play: Along with console nights, there can be mini-tournaments hosted for longer tournaments (such as Madden and other games/formats not used at LANs). League play can also be used for other games, such as Halo 2v2 or 4v4, Gears 2v2 or 4v4, etc. just to add a consistent competitive element to the community.

MADDEN!!!!
If there is a Madden tournament at the LAN we will have a new crowd of players arrive and will hopefully draw in A LOT more people. The Madden tournament will generally last for most of the LAN depending on people so, it would have to run either simultaneous to the other tournaments starting early in the day or starting at 5 or so in the afternoon. Either way..

Well, I’m hoping to do some organized League like play for Madden during the console nights, mini-LANs, etc. I don’t want to throw another tournament in, because we’ve got 4 or 5 now and I really don’t know how well that alone will work. Hopefully, if I can get some fliers posted and people interested, I’ll start up a league. As well as do some research on common and normal settings. What could happen, is that most of the matches be played outside of the LAN, then have semi-finals etc at the LAN. We’ll see.
If that is going to happen Oh Malley, you need to get it up ASAP. Put out some fliers for your console mini-lans and get the word out about Madden. Hardcore Madden players aren’t going to come to a LAN in hope that Madden is going to be played, much less know what a LAN is. Need to get the word out NOW and get people wanting to play, etc. Also, since there will be tournaments on virtually all platforms, you could be running a tournament for Madden while others play SSBM and Wii Bowling, or something similar.
