Best game ever. EDIT: Great game, not sure what the best game would be…

    If you haven’t preordered/predownloaded/whateveryoudotogetgames. Do it now… :).

Oh and check out the number of perfect scores given for this game so far:

    http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/bioshock

(Release date August 21st on PC and xbox360)

Good thing I don’t have class on Tuesdays ^^.

They had a team design the pc interface and a completely seperate team design the x360 interface.

From all reports the PC version is more accessible but both are good.

This isn’t a port to console or a port to PC. It was designed specifically for each system individually.

Yeah apparently it has a higher average rating than even Ocarina of Time.

    #24885

OoT isn’t the highest scoring or the best voted game anyways, HL and FFVII I believe were top scorers in their general categories.

Bioshock looks amazing though and plays amazing as well. I watched my suite mate play the 360 demo of it and wow, it was great.

I played the demo and am pretty much still playing it over in my head, flexing my hand like I have special powers, and was just stomping into the bathroom with my shower sandals pretending I was a Big Daddy.

The game is going to rock.

    #24894

Yeah, while you were playing it I was just mesmerized myself.

Eh.. the Demo was pretty, but it didn’t peak my interests. Nice concepts and all, just didn’t made me feel like I had to go buy it. But very very pretty.

so has anyone played it yet? is it as good as it’s suppose to be?

The demo was far more linear than the rest of the game. They basically made that first level for teaching the player the basics. In interviews they explained that the first level was the most linear part of the game.

I’m still waiting for the stupid UPS guy to get my copy to me… he left for delivery at 9:16am and here it is, 1:30pm and no game yet :o. I played the demo and thought it was fantastic but I didn’t get to experience all the really cool stuff because the demo really only goes through the beginning ‘tutorial style’ level.

If it doesn’t get here today then I get free shipping though… ^^.

From everything I’ve read about the game, as you play you become immersed and attached to the story/characters/game world. Constantly wanting to know whats going to happen next. The fact that you have about 50 passive abilities to choose from, on top of your hand powers (which all upgrade), and your 6-8 weapons (which all upgrade and have 3 different types of ammo each), is really appealing to me. The demo didn’t even let you fight a Big Daddy and from all accounts doesn’t scratch the surface of the story or game play. The levels beyond the first become more open and exploratory. I read that you can turn off all the console style help in the PC version so that you can experience the world without all the dumb GUI. At any rate, I’ve yet to hear anything bad about the game and to see all reviewers giving this game a 9+ rating really says something.

Oh and one more thing, if you download this game without paying for it then go to hell. Buy it or don’t play it. The team behind this game definitely deserves to be paid for their work!

So, now that i’ve experienced the first boss, Bioshock is definitely a great game. Its story really is nuts and the game is excellent as far as suspense goes. The game isn’t as open as Oblivion and still has a basic set of objective one must complete. However, there are lots of little areas for you to explore that simply give u more story information, more abilities, or simply more loot from the downed enemies that respawn every once in a while. The art style and gameplay are great and I really don’t see any problems with the game. Apparently if you die you simply get respawned at some cryo tube thing so u can get back into the action and kick *edited* without having to redo what u just did. I haven’t died yet so that hasn’t really been a concern.

I haven’t fought a big daddy yet but I did harvest a little sister. I’m a pansy so I chose not to kill her and only got 80 Adam instead of 160.

Another really cool thing is the mini game you play each time you try to hack or break open a safe. Its a time race to connect tubes in a certain way to make a path for some liquid.

It succeeds in everything the game tries to do.

Currently my character shoots AoE lightning when hes hit in melee, hits really hard w/ the wrench, and has extra hacking abilities. I got the pistol, wrench, shotgun, and machine gun. I also have the lightning, incenerate, and enrage abilities. The last of which makes my foe attack other people.

At any rate, fun game, ^^.

I have it for the PC and my roommate has it for the 360, it is quite an amazing game. I am about as far as Kappa is, but I’ve fought a couple of the Big Daddies myself and they are amazingly hard and quite a *edited* to take down. The story is amazing, the levels are free-reign, choosing to harvest or to save, etc.. its really amazing.

I don’t know about the AoE lightning Kappa, but I’m sure I’ve picked that up as well as the “heavy lifting” bonus that makes you hit harder, etc. I haven’t picked up enrage yet though, I went and increased my Eve as well as my Health first, especially with the Big Daddies.

Also, when you die, it really isn’t a death. You get “revived” as a Vitastation thing and you’re immediately put back into gameplay, everything hasn’t reset and the Splicers or Big Daddies you can kill are all at the same HP as when you were killing them earlier.

The game just flows seamlessly and the story is great, leaving you wanting and grasping for more.

No seriously. I just finished it and it was amazing. Now to just go through and harvest all those Little Sisters and see what changes.

At this point I don’t trust any review site, they’re all biased towards money-in-da-pocket and many reviewers themselves are biased.

I should have showed you bioshock when you came to my room… my video card doesn’t do it justice but it gets the general idea across.

I downloaded the demo and have to say it looks like it could be a good game. If nothing else it gives my video card a workout. :P
