SpectatorSo I was looking for a good pair of headphones with mic built in. I found this pair http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/p…86&cl=us,en but had wondered if any of you had any good suggestions before I go drop fifty bucks.
Thanks!

hehe, wal-mart is evil around here.
I get the point though, I’m off to buy some cheapies! I just didn’t want feedback. Thanks for the input and advice.

SpectatorI used to use the cheap logitech’s, but they keep crapping out on me after a few months. I got a cheap one from a company named Sennheiser, a pc140, and its worked like gold, plus it is more comfortable than the logitech ones, at least for me.

SpectatorYou’re best bet is going to your local Best Buy (though I discourage buying anything else there) and investing in a 2 year warranty on a $40+ headset. If you don’t like the first ones you get you can always say the mic doesn’t work and tell them you’re trying a different pair. (Of course paying or being credited the difference.)
I actually found a cheaper pair of headphones more reliable than the more expensive ones. I friggen swear the make the expensive ones flimsy just so you have to buy them again.

SpectatorI wound up getting the logitech set. They’re kick-*edited* so far. USB plug-n-play with the mic and headphones and the quality is amazing. They’re fairly sturdy as well.
Thanks for all of your input everyone!
p.s. I got em from Office Depot so I avoided the evil monopolitic companies all together.

Spectatorand office depot isn’t a giant baby-soul-eating corporation?

SpectatorI recommend http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/webcam_c…30&cl=us,en if anyone else was to get any. I’ve had a couple of these already but my own stupidity broke both pair because the cord was around my leg and I pulled the cord clean out of the static cancellation thing-a-ma-jig. Kuros has a pair and I plan on getting another pair soon, but since then I’ve been using the crappy logitech pair you can get at Walmart for like $20.

Thats the exact pair I picked up. They’re kick-*edited* awesome so far. The quality is great on both the headphones and the mic. I was actually a bit surprised at their depth when I put them on earlier today with my laptop.
RiceKrispies — while Office Depot may be a soul-eating corporation, its nowhere near as bad as Wal-Mart or Best Buy.

SpectatorTo give you an example of how good the sound quality is in the mic, Windows Vista picks up 99% of what you say correctly via Speech Recognition. It’s quite amazing really.

Wanna see Vista mess up with Speech recognition?
But anyways I think Logitech Extreme Gaming Headset (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/pc_gaming/headsets_microphones/devices/321&cl=ca,en) kicks butt =X It’s only fourty canadian dollars =O LOL, that’d be 24 American =S

SpectatorChrist. Just check the stats on a headphone before you buy them. You are proly going to be getting ripped off.

SpectatorI’m using (Or used…until I return) what Jagr gave me to use. They work and I don’t know exactly what they are because they are in another part of my house that is too far away from my current location.
So, I suppose this wasnt helpful at all.

SpectatorRofl Caco, nice insight
. Yeah, he has the same as I do right now, the $20 one from Walmart.June 12, 2007 at 8:03 pm #22117Fascist Flakes (Jagr)
SpectatorI just went out and bought the headset I mentioned above once more
. This time though I went ahead and got the 2 year warranty, haha.June 12, 2007 at 9:26 pm #22121Liam

SpectatorI picked up my Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 (same one you guys are talking about) at Buy.com for $35.50 – $12.50 rebate – $10 bonus for signing up for google checkout = $13.00 final cost. No tax and free shipping. Yes, I am very cheap. My school costs 45k/year, so I have to save money in other ways.

yeah uh… 5.1 surround + a 20 dollar mic .I use a 5.1 set of Logitech THX certified speakers on my main pc. Though I had trouble with the mic getting feedback from them so I just swapped to using the headset 100%.
One thing I have noticed with the headset is that it gives a lot better depth perception so to speak, so I think I’ll stick with those for gaming and use my desktop speakers for everything else.

SpectatorSpeakers for gaming are completely useless unless you’re playing a game where sound isn’t pivotal. 5.1 Speakers for CS = you die a lot more. I rely immensely on sound, hearing where people are, etc.

It seems to have helped a lot so far. Now if only I could learn to aim.

Spectatormx518 is made by Logitech, it along with the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 and the Razer Deathadder are pretty good deals. One of the old hands around here at the gaming clubs rapes kiddies like me with a Laptop trackpad. You will know him when ya see him.

I do love my Microsoft Laser mouse though. Its 1000dpi and its made a huge difference (to me at least) over my optical mouse.
