What a week…

So, you’ve probably noticed the Falcon has been overly absent… I thought for spring break it would somehow involve lots of sleep, a tv, a remote, and several trips back and forth to the Whee… how wrong I was…

I went back and forth friday and saturday as expected, just playing around on the abandoned uni bandwidth

Then Sunday, well, things divebombed. My dad woke me up at 8:30 in the morning, nothing unusual. But what he said, well, definitely wasn’t expected… the pastor at my home church passed away around 1 or 1:30 Sunday morning. Out of respect for the family, I’m omitting several details, but he was asleep when he went and never felt any pain. He wasn’t in any ill health or distress any at all beforehand that anyone knows of (honestly the man was out golfing days before), so it seems it was just his time to go, this fellow of 48 or 49 years. So, Sunday morning service was going to be just an open prayer service, but honestly since there wasn’t anything I could do to help and since I’d only gotten maybe 5 hours of sleep that night, I went back to sleep after a few minutes of prayer. Monday, again, there wasn’t much I could do to help out, so I stayed home and didn’t do much. Tuesday, I went in to church and helped fill in all the many gaps left open in the absence of the pastor and his family, then went to visitation that night. Wednesday, again, I helped all I could at the church, and went to the memorial service that morning. Thursday, (yesterday), I rode down with several people to Orangeburg, SC for the funeral. Today I finally breathed some.

For the man himself, I’m not one bit sad, coz you know he couldn’t be happier, but I feel a deep sorrow for his family, and for the church, so I’ll be carrying a bit of a burden with me in the weeks to come. I’ll still be more than happy to continue all my positions and duties, though.

I’ll be returning sometime Sunday afternoon and catching up on any pending homework, so I’ll maybe return to normal activity around Tuesday as I get through all the homework I have to do.
