SpectatorWith admins that feel like since they are admin, they can do whatever the hell they want and whenever they want.
More specifically, with map changing. I respect admins, but the power hungry ones don’t respect the players. If there is 15+ minutes left on a map (which in most cases is true), please don’t make a vote to change to a custom (ie – scoutzknives or w/e).
And you may not notice, but most people don’t like those maps. Some do, but most don’t. I was just on the server and it was 15-15 on each side. Changed to scoutz b/c some admin thought it’d be a good idea and dropped to under 9-9 each.
And yesterday, the map changed 4 times within 10 minutes. Literally.
Just getting really annoyed with admins these days on the server.

Spectatoryes this has become a problem in the past 2 days.
we will put the plugin so only the top 3 admins will have access to these commands.
and for the admins that are change maps as soon as they join, ASK around and make shure we did not just come from a map your putting up for vote. wink wink rayz.
after our lan event i will work on putting a custom map server together.. this should solve alot of problems… (and mabe cause some new ones)..

Spectatori have been gettin annoyed to dd5 john…

SpectatorOnce the custom server is up I am actually going to restrict the mapchange command to executives and remove mapvotes entirely from the main server. Problem solved. And yes, I agree whole-heartedly that the map gets changed far too often.
November 29, 2006 at 12:08 pm #14009lootool
SpectatorI usually put up a vote if the map we are going to has been played in the past 2 hours or so..IT GETS BORING PLAYING THE SAME MAPS! I try to play 8 diff maps b4 we go back to dust2..and I will put up a vote if I get like 5 people saying to put up a vote for a certain map..WE CANT PLEASE EVERYONE! Why do we have to keep the server full ALL the time? It gets hard trying to kill a whole team when there are 15 of them.. The CS community does not need another 24/7 Dust2..do not restrict mapchange access to the top 3 admins..they are not always on..if anything..give the top admin that is playing on the server at the time the mapchange access…Loot.
November 29, 2006 at 12:13 pm #14010lootool
Spectatoralso..I always ask other admins on if they are cool if I change the map..cuz I know I get angry when people put up a vote on maps I dig..LIKE SCOUTZKNIVEZ!
LOOTOOL!

SpectatorJust curious, am I considered an executive here or just in TF? And I think the LAN will be a good time to let people know about the TF server!
November 29, 2006 at 12:38 pm #14016rossy
Spectatorgxti i dont think that will solve the problem.. i think once custom server is up.. everything will be fine.. because certain times ppl scream for new maps etc… and oilrig /tundra never show up … and sometimes in vote like all bad maps come up. ppl want new maps.. i usually just custom vote ‘wanta new map’ just to see general consensus.. and i never change a map unless i get 51% saying yes..
November 29, 2006 at 1:25 pm #14018Adam Faulkner
Spectatorrossy, yes that will solve the problem
lordkuros yes your are an exec. I would rather limit it to WCU students, not just execs. Either works
Last if you haven’t noticed when i get on the server if it is a custom map other than small snow/iceworld i just leave. There is no way i can even tell if someone is hacking. The game is way to fast pace.
We need 2 servers. Both will be popular, the question is how popular will they be.
November 29, 2006 at 2:58 pm #14025gxti
SpectatorThe idea is to keep map changing from happening outside of the end-of-map vote on the main server, and leave amx_map for when the server crashes or otherwise empties. I’m still going to make improvements to the voting system so it doesn’t get stuck in the office-aztec-dust-dust2 cycle as frequently.

Spectatorgxti your going to grow a tumor if you keep working this hard.

Spectator‘sok, keeps me distracted from class. Besides, when I say I’m going to do something, it usually doesn’t happen for a month or eight.

SpectatorWhoa whoa whoa whoa
that one time Dice was an accident. I totally didnt know u guys had played it so suddenly. I even said my bad. Was a complete accident. I was under the influence and am sorry about that. But other than that i dont see the big deal, if a map passes, and people complain then i refuse the map change, its that simple. If everyone cheers for joy i change the map. As much as you ‘respect’ admins John you are far from a respectable person. You are arrogant and think that because you are good you have presidence over others. The way you talk to people is really condicending and by no means do i find ‘*edited* *edited* admins’ a respectable thing to do. Next time you decide to post make sure your background doesnt conflict with your post. As much as this votemap thing is a problem, the REAL problem is respect. Yeah we can joke and stuff, but when it comes down to it, people like you who dont give a *edited* about the people you play with only bring down others. This server is a community, and yes we are playing a game, but we are interacting with people, and how you treat those people IS the most important thing; way more important than a silly map that you dont enjoy.
Im sorry for throwing up map votes, me and Kuros have made a new rule we kinda like, the 75% rule. If the map doesnt get 75% vote then we dont change it. We implemented this self rule earlier today, its more of a code than anything. Anyway happy hunting and sorry i got heated there for a sec.
November 29, 2006 at 9:16 pm #14049ZAattackCH@WCU
SpectatorWell is this talking about voting maps also…because it seems that voting for a map is fair, cuz if the right number of people (majority) wants it they will vote, those who dot vote well thats their problem…i bring this up because i rarley change maps only vote…so wuts the word on that

Spectatoryeah i’d rather not see mapchange access limited only to the top 3 admins, but I’ve never changed the map myself when there’s more than 5 or so people on. I’m usually content to play the same 6 or 7 maps we always cycle through and not mess around with what people vote for every 25 min (prob because I havent been playing 5 years like some of you guys and gotten tired of the common maps).
The reason I’d like to have map change access though is sometimes it’s me and only one or two other people on around 3 or 4 in the morning and we’re playing inferno or d2… it kinda sux so I’d like to be able to change to a small map like iceworld or snow in those situations.
December 1, 2006 at 11:10 pm #14137cameron crazie
Spectatoroh yeah, i do agree with what has been said before me though that all the map changing lately has gotten kinda ridiculous.

Spectatoryea john, its all about respect for your fellow players.

Spectatori agree with briefs also man

Spectatordo we have the command where regular players can choose a map? i know a few servers have it where you type in ‘votemap’ into console and it shows you a list of about 20 maps and then you type in for example ‘votemap 4’ and when there is a majority of the votes it can change to that map. this is good for when there are no admins on to change to a better map.
December 4, 2006 at 4:43 pm #14212lootool

December 5, 2006 at 4:40 pm #14230poteet
Spectatorya it just seems like were playin office, dust2, and aztec 24/7.. and i dont mind it cuz if its a map ive played before ill just go read or do some hw, but maybe we could get some other maps on the official list? or switch up the list of them and put all dust2, office, and aztec on one and then the next map when its voting its cbble, inferno, upc, italy or something on the list to choose from. all in all this server is my favorite and u all can probably see that cuz im on all the time haha
December 5, 2006 at 10:35 pm #14234Ex
SpectatorWell the thing about just haveing the top 3 admin to be able to start a map vote could be a verry bad thing at times . Like when it is changed to a map that is killing the server and neather of the admin that have the power to change it are on
December 5, 2006 at 10:37 pm #14235gxti
SpectatorHe’s referring to the old highlander plugin (which haven’t found yet). It allows the top three admins *in the server* to use their admins, so if more than three admins are in the server, only the top three can use it…
