SpectatorOkay i know you guys are working hard to fix the server. Or at least last time i checked =P. I was just wondering how its coming along? or whether or not it can even be fixed. I mean if we cant fix it might as well scrap it and get a new one? Someone said it was a network issue so im not to familiar on how exactly to fix it, but im sure you guys are still trying to figure it out.
Also if by any chance money is needed to restore the server ill be more than willing to throw in some money to see the server shine. Cmon guys we were rank 1000!!! we cant just let the server die…ive seen it happen way to many times.

SpectatorI understand what you are saying. I have recently discovered that the issue is not in the files of the server, nor is it due to the amount of people in the server. I am at a lan at the moment and i started having issues with 3 people in the server. The more we know the more we can fix. Dont ask if we can fix it. Look up information on google and help us fix it, send advice we dont need any motivation.

Spectatorthis reminds me of working on a car. U know the thing is broke…but there are so many things that could be wrong with the stupid thing. Even when u think u found the answer its really just the icing on what really is the problem.
And i would help if i could, but im not as competant with server managment and maintanence as you are. So i wouldnt know where to begin to help. Thats why i said cash cuz i know how to do that lol

Spectatorjelly or kore what is the servers upload speed and its max upload speed i know neither of you will prob not respond till after monday
October 19, 2006 at 4:55 pm #13361jelleyman
SpectatorActually, since I work here full time, I don’t get breaks like students do. the server is running on 100mbp pipe, and the uploads (on a good day should be approching that, although when the kids are back encrypted p2p traffic kills the pipe to the server)
And now that I’ve said that, if you are running Ares or Encrypted Bit torrent on the WCU network, you could be responsible for killing the server. Only you can prevent forest fires. Be a hoot, don’t pollute.

Spectatori am running Ares =P killing the server is fun! lol no im kidding die server killers! karma shall get you.
October 19, 2006 at 10:49 pm #13363jelleyman
Spectatordon’t talk to me about karma, or Karma in the form of the RIAA or MPAA will come knocking on your door.
and what you do outside of my network, i really don’t care about.

SpectatorPlease donate to the Gaming club, that is why Adam set up the paypal link at the left of the page. PLEASE give to the club that keeps giving back. (Besides it is one of the only ways to get a new sever or get another one)

SpectatorI was reaping the benefits of bittorrent for a while (hey, at least I throttled down really hard), but I’ve given that up since.

Spectatori wish i knew the problem…
i just smack some ver juice on it and it will be like new =p
October 24, 2006 at 8:13 am #13430jelleyman
Spectatorok, so the p2p traffic is an issue on occasion, am i correct?
October 24, 2006 at 10:10 am #13431Adam Faulkner
SpectatorYea, i think that is a safe assumption. That p2p traffic is causing our issue.
From my understanding we aren’t in a class on the 7 levels of priority. We are just removed from its classification tables so it has no affect on us. Which puts us in the population of p2p encrypted traffic and if it uses all the traffic it leaves us none.
I wonder if there is a better solution if my assumptions are correct.
Ponders. !dodge

SpectatorIf it’s p2p, why does it still lag when everyone is gone?
October 24, 2006 at 11:48 am #13442Phonetically Phamous (dice
Spectatorwell its not like ‘everyone was gone’ i’d assume 80% of the students may have left campus for the extra 2day break at the most.. so the P2Ping wasent as strong but it was still there..
October 24, 2006 at 1:02 pm #13443Ver1tas23
Spectatorits bad again =/
October 24, 2006 at 2:37 pm #13453gxti
SpectatorLikely the people who are causing bandwidth problems don’t shut down their computers when they leave.
October 24, 2006 at 3:47 pm #13457pyro urban
Spectatori never shut off my computer =) if i come to WCU ill murder the server lol
October 24, 2006 at 7:25 pm #13467Ver1tas23
Spectatori never turn mine off, and our network is great, although we do have multiple T3 lines =p
October 24, 2006 at 8:26 pm #13473Adam Faulkner
SpectatorYea, but not all networks are the same.
